Step 1:
In order to be eligible for a real estate license in Canada, you have to complete a licensing course at some of the accredited training schools in the country. The courses are usually a self-paced course that comes with 20 multiple choice assignments preceded by a 3-hour final test. This course is a little difficult thus; real estate agents who are planning to take this course should be very well prepared. Some of the subjects included in this course are elements of appraisal, law of mortgages, law of agency, law of contracts, titles and registrations.
Step 2:
Language Proficiency requirements must also be met by real estate agents who are trying to get real estate license in Canada. The students should be able to present a high schools graduation diploma or its equivalent. The school where the student graduated should be using the English as the medium of instruction. The student must also have completed a 3-unit English course in English literature or English composition. The student must have also completed the licensing course for real estate agents, licensing course for Rental Property and the Mortgage Brokerage licensing course. The students should also have completed designations for Certified General Accountant which includes courses equivalent to Business Writing Skills.
Step 3:
If the student have successfully taken the course and passed the exam, he may now apply for a license. The student simply has to complete the application form for associate, representative or managing broker depending on what type of license he would like to obtain.
Step 4:
After completing the above three steps, the student must then take another course for the Residential Trading Services. The student must be able to register for this course a month of being licensed and should be able to complete it in 6 months.
Obtaining a real estate license in Canada takes time but once you were able to obtain a license, you will benefit from it for a long time. Remember that real estate is a big business that does not only require knowledge. People going into real estate transaction should have a proof that you are someone they could transact with. Without a real estate license, how can you prove yourself to your clients?
